Leading X-ray / gamma ray Technology
Contributing to development of the industry with the world’s highest-class high-resolution X-ray and gamma ray imaging technologies
Who We Are
iMAGINE-X Inc. provides the world’s highest-level high-resolution/highsensitivity imaging devices to a wide range of industries, including healthcare
iMAGINE-X Inc. is a startup company from the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe at the University of Tokyo (Kavli IPMU), which was established in 2019 by researchers in astrophysics on the world’s cutting edge, who have investigated black holes and supernova remnants. In astrophysics, researchers play a central role in developing detectors mounted on satellites that capture X-rays and gamma-rays from space, realizing imaging through advanced analysis. Such imaging technologies, which have been accumulated over many years through the exploration of space, have the potential to overwhelmingly surpass the imaging technologies that have been used in various industrial fields thus far. Therefore, since the first year of our establishment in 2019, we have been providing made-to-order imaging devices for space observation, accelerator experiments, and non-destructive analysis. In 2022, we released the XCam-CdTe, a system that is capable of pharmacokinetic imaging of whole mouse bodies to contribute to society through drug discovery research, as the first step for a mass produced model. Of course, the detectors and analysis software that are utilized in space cannot be used as they are. Accordingly, we were able to release the XCam-CdTe by making various efforts in the assembly and miniaturization of sensor elements, as well as software improvements. Going forward, we will continue to ceaselessly contribute to the development of industry that is centered on imaging technology, without halting the progress of our development.
It is one of the world’s top international research institutes, attracting toplevel researchers from around the world to explore the mysteries of the universe, and is one of 20 Kavli institutes worldwide.
Technology
Creating Imaging Systems
Our strength lies in our full set of core technologies: (1) Design of analog ASICs, (2) Development of sensor modules, (3) Design of optical systems, and (4) Data analysis technologies for imaging, which are required for realizing X-ray/gamma ray imaging systems. For this reason, we are capable of in-house development of custom imaging systems from the ground up. In response to clients’ requests, we are also actively involved in designing imaging systems, as well as joint development of elemental technologies such as ASICs and sensors.
